Firefighter's Killer Convicted
Dec. 2008
Jerome Jones pleaded guilty to the drunk driving death of firefighter Julio Alvarado. Jones was sentenced to 15 years in prison. His widow testified in court.

13 Year Old Girl Killed by Drunk Driver

Nicole "Lilly" Lalime had just gotten off her school bus and was only a short walk from home when a car -- driven by John Winne who police say was drunk -- struck her on Tuesday afternoon.
Her mother said, "Drunk driving just can't be tolerated."

Adam Parks was given 10 years on probation after being convicted for causing the crash that killed 17 year old Nick Cullens. Phillip Cullens believes that the juries lacked the guts to sentence Parks to prison and that the ruling sends the message that life is cheap.

Christmas Day Crash Kills Husband and Wife

Two are killed by an alleged drunk driver in Harris county, Texas, where alcohol is involved in almost 45 percent of all crashes.
“You go to sleep after having a wonderful Christmas Day, then get a call at 6 a.m. from the medical examiner, telling me that my daughter and her husband were killed,” Ron Harris said of his daughter, 30-year-old Christy Bordelon and her husband, Kevin.

DWI Claims Student's Life

Jason Shein was 21, studying to become a doctor and hoping to practice one day in New York, close to his family in Levittown.
Shortly after midnight yesterday, driving home from a dinner with friends at Applebee's in Farmingdale, he was killed when a drunken driver's SUV slammed head-on into his car, Nassau police said.
The SUV driver, Persi Esquivel, 46, of Valley Stream, who is on probation from a previous drunken driving conviction, was arrested on manslaughter and 11 other charges.

Families Rememeber Those Killed By Drunk Drivers
The grief of losing a child is overwhelming. Parents are never the same. They never recover. The pain is always there.
Losing a child to a drunk driver is a whole new level of pain and grief.
Each year, dozens of mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, husbands and wives, all join together, holding hands and holding candles as they remember those lost to drunk driving.
Temple Terrance United Methodist Church has held a candlelight vigil each year for the past 25 years to remember those lost at the hands of a drunk driver.

Mourning Husband Pleads Against Drunk Driving
Shannon Kruse, and her unborn daughter named Jenna Lynn, were killed by Jacob Victor on Aug. 26, 2007. Victor was sentenced to ONLY one year in jail. The family was hoping the 26 year old Victor would have received 8 years.

18 year old Kylie Pinheiro was killed right before the New Year by Kimberly Green. Kylie was on break from college visiting family when she was killed. Her cousins were with her during the crash and were seriously injured.
