Man on Parole for 5 DUI's Convicted for death of Grandomtoerh

A man who was on parole for his fifth DUI conviction when he drove drunk on a suspended license, causing a freeway crash that killed Rosa Degerman, a 75-year-old grandmother, was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years to life in state prison.

Degerman's daughter, Gregoria Vigil, read a letter from her brother about their mother.

"I cannot put into words what losing my loving and beautiful mother means to me," the letter says. "Nothing can replace her."

The victim's family said they wanted Taskey's sentence to be as long as possible so he couldn't hurt other families with his drunken driving.
